The Women of WiMIN
Dr Sarah Fitzgibbon
Sarah founded WiMIN in December 2017. She is the current Chair. She is a GP in Cork and currently works with the National Screening Service. She also writes for the Medical Independent, talks a lot about gender equity, and wrestles with metastatic bowel cancer when required.
Dr Fiona Monahan
Dr Fiona Monahan is a member of the WiMIN Governance Committee and also Vice-Secretary. She is a GP on the northside of Cork city with an interest in Social inclusion and equity for all, including women in medicine! She also values remaining passionate and relevant in the latter stages of her career.
Dr Maimoona Azhar
Dr Maimoona Azhar is a member of the WiMIN Outreach Committee. She is a clinical educator and the Founder/CEO of Telegenz, a dedicated platform for virtual clinical skills development, enabling patients and healthcare providers to effectively utilize rapidly advancing digital health technology.
Dr Kate McCann
Dr Kate McCann is a certified lifestyle medicine physician. She is a Member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the British Society for Lifestyle Medicine, and has been active in the development of the newly formed Irish Society for Lifestyle Medicine.
She is a Member of Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, a former Post-Doc in molecular biology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and former Fellow at the Eck Institute for Global Health.
She is head of Education and Research for WiMIN.
Prof Aine Carroll
Prof Aine Carroll is Vice-Chair and Honorary Secretary of WiMIN. Áine is Professor of Healthcare Integration and Improvement at University College Dublin and a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dublin. She is Chair of the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC) and co-Director of IFIC Ireland.
Prof Nóirín Russell
Professor Nóirín Russell MD FRCPI MRCOG is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Cork University Maternity Hospital and Honorary Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University College Cork. In August 2020, she was appointed as the Clinical Director of CervicalCheck and has recently been appointed to the European Commission Initiative on cervical cancer which aims to develop revised screening guidelines in tandem with a quality assurance scheme.
She is a founding board member of WiMIN.
Dr Lisa McNamee
Dr Lisa McNamee is a GP with a special interest in space and aviation medicine. She is on the WiMIN Outreach Committee. She is the primary care sustainability lead for Irish Doctors for the Environment. She is currently serving as a Medical Officer in the Defence Forces and holds the rank of Commandant. She enjoys writing, teaching and chatting.
Dr Vicki Marchant
Dr Vicki Marchant is the current treasurer of WIMIN. She is a GP in Co Meath since 2006 and has a special interest in women’s health, dermatology and Autism. She is also a tutor on the Practical Dermatology Diploma in Cardiff.
Prof Criona Walshe
Professor Criona Walshe is a Board Member of WIMIN and sits on the Governance Committee. She is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist in Beaumont Hospital Dublin, Honorary Clinical Associate Professor RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Clinical Lead Health Professions Education Centre, RCSI.
